Budget hot-melt carton sealing

Plan hot-melt carton sealing: measure adhesive dose, calculate order demand and compare qualified supplier offers on the same usable-carton basis.

Work through the task

  1. Weigh adhesive consumption for a representative run of qualified seals. Record purges, rejects and recovered adhesive with a consistent gross-input boundary.
  2. Calculate consumption or geometry before assigning cost. Keep fixed charges, rounding and unused inventory visible.
  3. Confirm equivalent specification and scope, then use the category comparison or complete packaging BOM to compare supplier offers.

Tools for this job

A worked example

A measured 0.3 g net dose for 10,000 good cartons needs 3 kg net adhesive, or 3.15789 kg at a stated 5% gross-input loss.

Use your supplier specification and quotation. These numbers demonstrate the arithmetic; they are not market prices or a packaging suitability assessment.

Checks before you decide

  • Measured circular bead diameter
  • Total bead path per carton
  • Actual applied adhesive density
