Freight Cost per m² Calculator
Spread a shipment’s freight charge over its film area. Enter area directly or derive it from net film weight and GSM when the shipment is recorded by mass.

First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Help with total freight cost
Enter the transport charge for the same shipment or order represented by the other fields. Use 0 only when the supplier has confirmed that freight is included.
Label only. No exchange-rate conversion.
Freight per m²
Freight/m² = total freight ÷ film area; area = kg × 1,000 ÷ GSM
250 ÷ 12,500 = 0.02/m²Saved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.

Vary one input and inspect freight per m²
All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
An area-based freight allowance connects logistics costs to web consumption and packaging output. If area is already known, no density or thickness assumption is needed. If only film weight is known, GSM converts that mass into square metres. A heavier structure yields less area per kilogram, so the same freight charge and shipment weight produce a higher transport cost per square metre.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Choose direct area or the weight-and-GSM method.
- 02
Enter the total freight charge and the corresponding shipment quantity.
- 03
Check the calculated area before using the result in an area-based landed-cost comparison.
A calculation you can check
The example translates a weight-based shipment record into area, then allocates freight to each square metre of supplied film.

Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
