TOOL 11 / 211

Flexible Packaging Quote Comparison Calculator

Compare two to four film quotations across kilograms, square metres, linear metres, rolls and 1,000 finished units. Review calculated cost and specification differences together before treating offers as commercially comparable.

Use a saved product specification (optional)

What do you need to compare?

Start with prices, units and only the geometry needed for the selected conversion. Order charges can be added later.

Save for later (optional)Saved comparisons ↗

Save incomplete quotes locally and reopen them later in this browser. Save draft creates a separate snapshot. After restoring a draft, choose Update saved draft to replace it explicitly.

Put the quotes on the same basis.

Enter actual supplier GSM when available. Leave unknown dimensions blank: the comparison will state which conversions need more information.

QUOTATION A
Quantity price breaks · optional

All-units pricing: the highest qualifying minimum selects one price for the entire order, not progressive bands. Keep the same currency, specification and price basis. The main quoted price applies below the first minimum. Changing the price basis reinterprets the entered schedule. Freight and fees stay as entered; verify them for the new quantity.

Geometry & specification
Order & additional costs

Material prices can be compared now. Enter freight and tooling to calculate landed cost; enter 0 only when there is no charge.

QUOTATION B

All-units pricing: the highest qualifying minimum selects one price for the entire order, not progressive bands. Keep the same currency, specification and price basis. The main quoted price applies below the first minimum. Changing the price basis reinterprets the entered schedule. Freight and fees stay as entered; verify them for the new quantity.

Period demand and specification tolerances

Demand & specification tolerances

Period spend buys enough full shipments to cover this common demand. Freight is charged for each shipment, and tooling once in the entered period. Excess stock is included. MOQ is a minimum constraint, not an assumed shipment size. No process waste, duty, tax, payment terms or inventory carrying costs are included.

Edit specification tolerances

Absolute tolerances compare the highest and lowest entered values. Lanes must match exactly. Structure checks ignore capitalization and repeated spaces only; they do not interpret material equivalence.

Lowest calculated cost ≠ equivalent specification

Specification review required
  • GSM: missing or invalid values; specification match cannot be checked.
  • Total thickness: missing or invalid values; specification match cannot be checked.
  • Web width: missing or invalid values; specification match cannot be checked.
  • Repeat: missing or invalid values; specification match cannot be checked.
  • Lanes: missing or invalid values; specification match cannot be checked.
  • Structure: missing descriptions; specification match cannot be checked.

Review the complete cost and specification.

Complete the inputs needed for the selected result. Missing charges remain unknown.

First-shipment landed costs include all entered tooling. Period spend includes tooling only once. Prices for 1,000 units represent nominal units at the entered repeat and lanes; no waste allowance is applied. Lower cost alone does not establish supplier suitability.

Formula & substituted values

Price/m² = price/kg × GSM ÷ 1,000. Price/linear meter = price/m² × width in meters. Price/1,000 units = price/linear meter × repeat in meters × 1,000 ÷ lanes. A roll uses its entered net weight or its length and web geometry.

Supplier B

The formula, made clear.

Normalize quoted basis → Price/m² → Price/kg, Price/linear m and Price/1,000 units

Normalization follows physical relationships rather than interpreting supplier text. GSM connects mass and area; width connects area and running length; repeat and lanes connect running length and finished units. Roll quotations additionally need roll weight or length. Freight and tooling are allocated over the stated order quantity, with evaluation-period demand used only when enough information is available. Missing inputs leave the affected conversion unavailable instead of inventing film specifications. A lowest-cost indicator describes a calculated price, not supplier quality or suitability.

How to use this calculator

  1. 01

Enter each quote in its original basis and currency, then add known specification and order details.

  2. 02

Complete the required GSM, width, repeat, lanes or roll measurements for the conversions you need.

  3. 03

Review the comparison table, missing-input messages and deterministic specification warnings before drawing a purchasing conclusion.

A calculation you can check

The example places mass-based and area-based quotations on shared cost bases, then exposes differences in their declared film specifications.

Use Load example in the tool above. The displayed inputs, calculation breakdown and results form a live, auditable worked example.

Check the displayed formula and units against your quotation. Use measured GSM, net weight and actual layout dimensions where available. Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
