Glass container order and freight planning

Separate actual container weight, delivered quotation scope and usable quantity.

Work through the task

  1. Match container type, capacity, finish and included closures. Record actual unit weight rather than inferring it from fill volume.
  2. Calculate net packaging order weight; pallets, cartons and dividers are separate tare for transport planning.
  3. Allocate entered delivery and setup charges over the confirmed order. Freight must be quoted for the actual shipment arrangement.

A worked example

Twenty thousand containers at 250 g each contain 5,000 kg net glass packaging. At EUR 0.40 each their subtotal is EUR 8,000. An explicitly quoted EUR 600 freight adds EUR 0.03 per purchased container, before other charges.

Use your supplier specification and quotation. These numbers demonstrate the arithmetic; they are not market prices or a packaging suitability assessment.

Checks before you decide

  • Actual unit weight and packing tare
  • Matching capacity and finish
  • Delivered terms and closure scope
