Work through the task
- Record sheet structure, actual allocation and the approved part layout. Cavity area alone does not describe purchased web consumption.
- Distinguish retained part mass, gross process input and separately recoverable trim. Do not treat recovered trim as guaranteed free replacement input.
- Compare finished tray or cup quotations only after identifying lid, seal, conversion and delivery scope.

Thermoforming Sheet Weight Calculator
Calculate web GSM, area and mass from sheet dimensions, thickness and an explicitly entered material density.
Open calculator →Thermoforming Resin Requirement Calculator
Calculate gross resin input by dividing required good finished material mass by the process yield.
Open calculator →Thermoformed Tray Cost per 1,000 Calculator
Calculate waste-adjusted resin cost for trays and add optional conversion and order freight allocation.
Open calculator →Thermoformed Packaging Supplier Quote Comparison Calculator
Compare thermoformed packaging supplier prices, first-order and repeat-order landed cost, MOQ and specification differences.
Open calculator →A worked example
Ten thousand retained parts at 15 g contain 150 kg packaging. At an illustrative 75% retained-mass yield, gross input is 200 kg and trim is 50 kg. Recoverability and resin purchasing treatment require a separate verified model.
Use your supplier specification and quotation. These numbers demonstrate the arithmetic; they are not market prices or a packaging suitability assessment.
Checks before you decide
- Sheet structure and approved layout
- Retained mass versus gross input
- Lid, seal and conversion inclusion
