Cost per 1,000 Packs Calculator
Express rollstock material cost per 1,000 good packs using the actual web layout. This connects mass- or area-based film quotations with the purchasing basis often used for finished packaging.

First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Help with web width
Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.
Use actual supplier or measured GSM when available.
Help with film gsm
GSM is the weight of one square metre of material, in grams. Find it on the supplier specification; use the complete laminate value for layered film.
Label only. No exchange-rate conversion.
Percentage of gross input lost.
Help with process waste
Use a measured or supplier-confirmed percentage where possible. Check whether it applies to gross input or finished output; the formula below shows the basis used here.
Material cost per 1,000 good packs
Waste is the percentage of gross material lost. Gross requirement is net requirement ÷ (1 − waste rate).
Material cost only; excludes tooling, freight, converting labor and accessories.
Cost/good pack = (width × repeat ÷ lanes) ÷ (1 − waste/100) × price/m²
(0.8 × 0.25 ÷ 2) ÷ (1 − 5/100) × 0.24 = 0.0252631579/pack; × 1,000 = 25.26315789/1,000 packsSaved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.
Save to a product project (optional)

Vary one input and inspect material cost per 1,000 good packs
All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
The calculation starts with full web width multiplied by repeat and divided by lanes. That gives nominal area per pack, which is scaled to 1,000 packs and increased for gross-input process loss. A kilogram quotation is first converted with complete-film GSM. Working per 1,000 makes small unit differences easier to inspect, but it does not add services that may already be present in a finished-pouch supplier quote.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Enter web width, repeat and lanes from the intended production layout.
- 02
Supply the film price and its basis, with GSM where needed.
- 03
Set expected waste and compare the resulting material cost per 1,000 accepted packs.

Use measured GSM, net weight and actual layout dimensions where available. Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
