Blister Material Cost per 1,000 Packs Calculator
Calculate forming-web and lidding-material cost separately for 1,000 good blister packs, using each web’s dimensions, GSM and kilogram price.
Use a saved product specification (optional)
Enter your values
First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Help with forming web width
Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.
Help with forming material price/kg
Use the price for one kilogram of the quoted material, excluding freight unless the quote explicitly combines them.
Help with lidding web width
Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.
Help with lidding material price/kg
Use the price for one kilogram of the quoted material, excluding freight unless the quote explicitly combines them.
Help with process loss on gross input
Use a measured or supplier-confirmed percentage where possible. Check whether it applies to gross input or finished output; the formula below shows the basis used here.
Unit label only. No currency conversion.
Total material cost per 1,000 good packs
Waste is a fraction of gross input lost. Gross requirement = good output ÷ (1 − waste/100).
Forming and lidding use their own entered web allocations and a common number of packs across. Excludes conversion, product fill and testing.
Material and purchasing calculation only; no medical or pharmaceutical quality conclusion is implied.
Each web cost/pack = (width × pitch ÷ packs across) ÷ (1 − waste/100) × GSM ÷ 1,000 × price/kg; total/1,000 = (forming + lidding) × 1,000
Forming: 0.0105263158 m² × 350 ÷ 1,000 × 2 = 0.0073684211; lidding: 0.0105263158 m² × 60 ÷ 1,000 × 5 = 0.0031578947; (0.0073684211 + 0.0031578947) × 1,000 = 10.52631579Saved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.

All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
The forming web and lidding web are separate material streams and can have different widths, basis weights and prices. Allocate each web’s area to one pack, convert that area to kilograms and price it independently. Apply the stated gross-input waste consistently before summing the two contributions. Packs across refers to finished packs, not cavities within each pack.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Enter forming-web width, pitch, pack layout, GSM and price.
- 02
Enter the corresponding lidding-web specification and price.
- 03
Set process waste and review forming, lidding and total material cost.

Use measured GSM, net weight and actual layout dimensions where available. Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
