Cartons per Sheet Calculator

Compare whole-number rectangular carton-blank yields in two orientations on a board sheet. Use the result as an initial layout check before production imposition.

Use a saved product specification (optional)

Enter your values

First time using this calculator?

Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.

GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.

Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.

Compares two uniform rectangular orientations only. Excludes gutters, gripper margins, grain-direction restrictions and irregular die-line nesting.

Yield = max(floor(sheet W/blank W) × floor(sheet L/blank L), floor(sheet W/blank L) × floor(sheet L/blank W))

max(floor(1,200/500) × floor(800/400), floor(1,200/400) × floor(800/500)) = max(4, 3) = 4

The formula, made clear.

Cartons/sheet = floor(Sheet width ÷ Blank width) × floor(Sheet length ÷ Blank length)

The calculator repeats the fit with length and width swapped and reports the better simple count. Blank footprint and usable sheet dimensions determine the result. Grain direction, print orientation, gripper margins and die clearances can rule out an otherwise geometrically valid rotation, so the larger count still needs production review.

How to use this calculator

  1. 01

Enter usable sheet width and length.

  2. 02

Enter the actual carton blank’s rectangular footprint.

  3. 03

Compare both orientations and confirm the feasible production arrangement.

A calculation you can check

The example checks two rectangular arrangements of the same carton blank to show how rotation changes sheet yield.
