Film Price per Linear Meter to kg Calculator

Convert a running-metre quotation into prices per square metre and kilogram. Web width establishes the area, while GSM establishes the mass of each metre purchased.

Use a saved product specification (optional)

Enter your values

First time using this calculator?

Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.

GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.

Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.

EUR/m

Label only. No exchange-rate conversion.

Help with web width

Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.

g/m²

Use actual supplier or measured GSM when available.

Help with film gsm

GSM is the weight of one square metre of material, in grams. Find it on the supplier specification; use the complete laminate value for layered film.

Results update as you edit. Nothing is saved until you choose to.
Example result — replace the inputs

Equivalent price per kg

€3.0000/kg
Equivalent price per m²€0.2400/m²
Film weight per meter0.0640 kg/m

Price/kg = price/m ÷ (width (m) × GSM ÷ 1,000)

0.192 ÷ (0.8 × 80 ÷ 1,000) = 3/kg
Example result — replace the sample valuesThe formula works, but the values are illustrative.

The formula, made clear.

Price/m² = Price/linear m ÷ Width (m); Price/kg = Price/m² × 1,000 ÷ GSM

A linear-metre price cannot be compared fairly without knowing the width it buys. Divide the quoted running-metre price by width in metres to obtain its area equivalent. Dividing again by kilograms per square metre gives the mass-based price. This is especially useful when one supplier quotes a slit reel by length while another quotes the same structure by net weight.

How to use this calculator

  1. 01

Enter the supplier price for one linear metre.

  2. 02

Enter the quoted web width, selecting the correct dimensional unit.

  3. 03

Enter complete-film GSM and review both normalized price bases.

A calculation you can check

A buyer checks a length-priced slit-roll offer against a mass-priced offer. The example exposes the common area and weight price bases without changing currencies.

Check the displayed formula and units against your quotation. Use measured GSM, net weight and actual layout dimensions where available. Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
