Film Price per kg to Linear Meter Calculator
Calculate the material cost of one running metre of film from its kilogram price, web width and GSM. Use it when a machine schedule or roll specification is expressed in linear metres.

First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Help with film price per kg
Use the price for one kilogram of the quoted material, excluding freight unless the quote explicitly combines them.
Label only. No exchange-rate conversion.
Use actual supplier or measured GSM when available.
Help with film gsm
GSM is the weight of one square metre of material, in grams. Find it on the supplier specification; use the complete laminate value for layered film.
Help with web width
Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.
Price per linear meter
Price/m = price/kg × width (m) × GSM ÷ 1,000
3 × 0.8 × 80 ÷ 1,000 = 0.192/mSaved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.

Vary one input and inspect price per linear meter
All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
A linear metre is a length of web, so its area depends on web width. Multiplying width in metres by GSM gives grams in one running metre. The engine converts that mass to kilograms before applying the supplier price. Two rolls of identical material can have different prices per linear metre simply because their widths differ; the kilogram and square-metre prices can still be identical.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Enter the net film price per kilogram.
- 02
Supply GSM for the complete structure and the actual purchased web width.
- 03
Use the result with planned running length, or inspect the square-metre equivalent when comparing different widths.
A calculation you can check
The example prices one running metre of a known-width packaging web so a planner can translate a machine length requirement into a material budget.
