kg per Linear Meter Calculator
Find the net mass of one running metre of film from web width and GSM. This is the weight counterpart to linear metres per kilogram.

First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Help with web width
Measure the full width of the flat material from edge to edge, rather than the width of one finished pack. Choose the matching unit.
Use actual supplier or measured GSM when available.
Help with film gsm
GSM is the weight of one square metre of material, in grams. Find it on the supplier specification; use the complete laminate value for layered film.
Net film weight per linear meter
kg/m = width (m) × GSM ÷ 1,000
0.8 × 80 ÷ 1,000 = 0.064 kg/mSaved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.
Save to a product project (optional)

Vary one input and inspect net film weight per linear meter
All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
A one-metre length of web contains width in metres times one square metre of material. Its area multiplied by GSM gives grams per running metre. The final division converts this to kilograms. Multiplying the result by a planned run length gives net film consumption, or multiplying it by price per kilogram gives material cost per running metre. Keep full web width in the calculation if the purchased web includes later trim.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Enter the actual width of the film web.
- 02
Enter GSM for the supplied film or laminate.
- 03
Read kilograms per running metre and apply that factor to a known winding or production length.
A calculation you can check
The example establishes a mass-per-metre factor for a production web so length-based usage can be reconciled with kilograms.

Default densities are planning assumptions, not certified material properties. Calculated cost does not certify strength, compatibility or safe loading.
