Adhesive Consumption Calculator

Calculate retained dry adhesive and required wet adhesive from laminate area, target dry coat weight and solids content. This separates finished laminate mass from the quantity mixed or purchased.

First time using this calculator?

Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.

GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.

Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.

Dry adhesive retained2.000 kg
Wet coat weight5.00 g/m²

Solids are expressed by mass. This is theoretical consumption before coating losses, mix waste or cleanup.

Dry kg = area × dry GSM ÷ 1,000; wet kg = dry kg ÷ (solids/100)

1,000 × 2 ÷ 1,000 = 2 kg dry; 2 ÷ (40/100) = 5 kg wet

The formula, made clear.

Dry kg = Area × Dry GSM ÷ 1,000; Wet kg = Dry kg ÷ Solids fraction

Dry coat weight describes adhesive remaining on the laminate after volatile material leaves. Dividing that dry mass by the adhesive’s solids fraction gives the corresponding wet mass at the entered solids level. For a two-component system, confirm whether the quoted solids percentage describes the correctly mixed adhesive. Multiple lamination interfaces can be modeled with their combined dry coat weight when the same solids fraction applies.

How to use this calculator

  1. 01

Enter the area receiving adhesive and target dry coat weight.

  2. 02

Enter solids content as a percentage greater than zero and no more than 100%.

  3. 03

Review dry adhesive, wet adhesive and wet application weight before applying a separate process-loss allowance.

A calculation you can check
