Packs per Roll Calculator
Estimate finished-pack output from roll length, machine-direction repeat and lane count. Apply production waste to distinguish theoretical pack equivalents from expected good output.

First time using this calculator?
Replace the example values with figures from your supplier sheet or measurements. Choose the unit beside each value. Results update as you type; fix any highlighted field before using the result.
GSM means grams per square metre. Net weight excludes the core and other packaging. MOQ means the minimum order quantity. An optional field can stay blank unless the result you need depends on it.
Prices keep the selected currency; changing its label does not convert an exchange rate. Save or export the result after checking your inputs.
Percentage of gross input lost.
Help with process waste
Use a measured or supplier-confirmed percentage where possible. Check whether it applies to gross input or finished output; the formula below shows the basis used here.
Expected good packs
Expected yield is an estimate; actual complete packs also depend on startup losses and repeat registration.
Good packs = length × 1,000 ÷ repeat (mm) × lanes × (1 − waste/100)
1,000 × 1,000 ÷ 250 × 2 × (1 − 5/100) = 7,600 packsSaved calculations stay in this browser. No account or cloud backup is created.
Save to a product project (optional)
Choose or create a saved product project ↗This is an illustrative example. Saved or transferred values must be checked against your job.
Calculated from your inputs. Confirm specifications with your supplier.

Vary one input and inspect expected good packs
All other entered inputs stay fixed. Ranges are your scenarios, not statistical confidence or supplier performance predictions. This uses the same validated calculator engine.
The formula, made clear.
Every repeat along the web produces one pack per lane. Dividing roll length by repeat gives the number of repeat equivalents, which is multiplied by the lane count. A waste percentage then reduces theoretical output by the lost share. This is a continuous planning model; partial repeats, startup lengths and defects mean a real roll may not deliver every fractional pack equivalent shown by the arithmetic.
How to use this calculator
- 01
Enter the roll length available to production.
- 02
Enter machine-direction repeat and the positive whole number of production lanes.
- 03
Set expected gross-input waste and review theoretical and good-pack output.
A calculation you can check
The example translates a production reel into nominal pack capacity, then reduces that capacity by the entered process loss.
